Wilmette dive box 8-27-11 update

Tim Olk captured a series of powerful images documenting the recovery efforts at Gillson Park in Wilmette last night. The photos show firefighters and divers working tirelessly under challenging conditions to locate a missing swimmer in Lake Michigan. One image features a Chicago helicopter flying overhead, scanning the area for the lost individual. Another highlights Evanston Fire Department divers battling rough waves as they search the water. Divers are seen working from the breakwater, while others remain in the water, searching thoroughly for any sign of the swimmer. In one photo, divers receive instructions from a dive master on the beach, coordinating their efforts with precision. A diver is shown riding a sled pulled by a wave runner, ready to enter the water if needed. Others are stationed on the southern breakwater, where the swimmer was last seen. The operation took place at dusk, lasting over an hour in choppy waters. One diver is seen resting after an exhausting search, while another image shows the moment the swimmer was found. Paramedics were on scene, and the victim was transported by ambulance to Evanston Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. These images offer a poignant look at the dedication and challenges faced by first responders during such critical operations. Tim has shared more photos in his gallery, which you can view [here](#).
