9/11 symphonic band concert in Buffalo Grove with 9/11 remembrance
The Village of Buffalo Grove, in partnership with the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band and the Buffalo Grove Arts Commission, hosted a heartfelt public concert to honor the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The event, held in remembrance of the attacks that took place in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, featured guest speakers, musical performances, and special military honors. The Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Department Honor Guard participated, adding a solemn and respectful tone to the occasion.
Congressman Robert Dold and a U.S. Army General addressed the crowd, reflecting on the significance of 9/11, which the general described as a "tragic accident." Between the performances by the symphonic band, attendees were reminded of the courage and sacrifice of first responders and victims through powerful speeches and moving ceremonies.
The event included a touching moment led by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, featuring a bell ringing ceremony accompanied by the haunting melody of *Amazing Grace* played by a member of the Chicago Highlanders Pipe Band. A bagpiper also joined the ceremony, reinforcing the deep sense of loss and respect for those who lost their lives.
