Photos from the Fox River Grove 4th Alarm Structure Fire on September 29th
At approximately 6:15 PM on September 29th, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Department received a call about a structure fire at 1 Algonquin Road in Barrington Hills. Algonquin Engine 143 initially responded but realized it was within Fox River Grove’s jurisdiction, so they dispatched the local department. As crews arrived, they found a significant fire, prompting Fox River Grove command to request a second alarm for Box Card #5-670. Algonquin Engine 143 pulled up to begin a water supply operation using a tanker to support the engine fighting the fire at the scene.
The second alarm brought in several units, including Lakewood Engine 1041, Carpentersville Engine 941, Palatine Engine 81, Hoffman Estates Engine 23, a Spring Grove engine, Barrington Tender 362, Crystal Lake Tender 371, East Dundee Tender 471, Nunda-Rural Tender 1371, Huntley Tender 973, Wauconda Ambulance 341, Marengo Rescue Ambulance 1152, as well as chiefs from Algonquin, Barrington, Crystal Lake, and Huntley, plus RIT from Lake Zurich, a Cary Safety Officer, EMA, and the Salvation Army.
COQ: Nunda-Rural ambulance, McHenry engine, and Nunda Rural chief.
Shortly after the second alarm was called, command escalated to a fourth alarm for Box Card #5-670. The fourth alarm response included Fox Lake Engine 244, a Mundelein engine, a Grayslake engine, Elgin Engine 1, Schaumburg Engine 54, Rolling Meadows Engine 16, Woodstock Tender 73, Palatine Rural Tender 36, McHenry Tender 1274, Wonder Lake Tender 1671, Richmond Tender 1472, Hebron Tender 871, plus chiefs from Lake Zurich, McHenry, Wauconda, and Lakewood, along with Air 5.
The fire burned for roughly 2 to 3 hours before being brought under control. The scene was intense, with multiple departments working together to contain the blaze. These photos by Tyler Tobolt capture some of the critical moments during the incident.
