Libertyville 2nd Alarm fire, 3-15-14

This is from Larry Shapiro:

The Libertyville Fire Department was called around 10:15 PM on Saturday to a barn fire on Bradley Road in Mettawa. Units from Libertyville, Lake Forest, and Knollwood responded. When they arrived, flames were already visible in one of the buildings on a large stable property at 855 N. Bradley Road. The Libertyville Quint 462, Engine 463, Engine 461, and the Libertyville tender entered through the north driveway, while the Lake Forest engine came in via the south driveway.

There was a hydrant on the street for Lake Forest, and Knollwood tapped into another nearby to supply water to the Libertyville units. Before secure water sources were established, the Libertyville tender and two engines supported the quint with initial attack efforts.

Within minutes, the alarm was upgraded to a Box Alarm to bring in more resources, including additional water tenders. Fortunately, the fire was contained quickly, and the mutual aid tenders weren’t needed. A second alarm was called to bring in extra personnel for the extensive overhaul work that followed.
