Emerson Bearing Launches Plastics Division
In the classic film *The Graduate*, a family friend famously advised Benjamin Braddock to pursue a career in plastics, claiming it held immense potential for the future. We wholeheartedly agree.
That’s why Emerson Bearing recently established a specialized division focused on providing bearings and related products specifically tailored for the plastics industry. The plastics sector is largely driven by extrusion equipment and injection molding machines, both of which rely heavily on the reliability and durability of their bearings.
Extruders play a crucial role in shaping plastic materials by forcing them through nozzles into dies designed for specific profiles. These machines endure significant torque and radial/axial loads, making bearing performance paramount. Regular monitoring and timely replacements are essential to ensure smooth operations.
Injection molding machines, on the other hand, excel at producing large volumes of parts. The screw feeds and linear bearings within these systems must withstand extreme conditions such as heat and vibrations while maintaining high load capacities. Ensuring optimal maintenance practices remains key to sustaining production timelines.
Emerson Bearing has already seen positive outcomes from collaborations with several players in the plastics market. With our newly formed plastics industry division—complete with dedicated marketing teams and customer service professionals—we’re poised to enhance support for existing customers while attracting new opportunities.
So far, Emerson Bearing has collaborated with numerous plastic producers. One example is a North Carolina-based firm specializing in eco-friendly biodegradable plastic bags. Another client manufactures plastic strapping solutions, including those used across various industrial sectors. Additionally, there's a company known for creating innovative plastic wine corks.
Interestingly enough, the plastics industry serves as a reliable barometer for economic health. During the 2008 financial crisis, one of our clients—a manufacturer of plastic strapping—was operating at just 58% capacity, running only seven out of twelve production lines on two shifts daily. Fast forward to today, and they've ramped up operations significantly, now running full tilt with three shifts around the clock. Perhaps Benjamin Braddock's mentor was onto something after all.
