9/11 symphonic band concert in Buffalo Grove with 9/11 remembrance

The Village of Buffalo Grove, in collaboration with the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band and the Buffalo Grove Arts Commission, held a heartfelt public concert to honor the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The event, held in memory of the lives lost in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, featured guest speakers, musical performances, and a special tribute by the Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Department Honor Guard. Congressman Robert Dold and a U.S. Army General attended, with the general acknowledging the attacks as a "tragic accident" during his remarks. The ceremony included a powerful moment when the fire department conducted a bell-ringing ceremony, accompanied by a moving rendition of *Amazing Grace* played by a member of the Chicago Highlanders Pipe Band. A bagpiper also joined the performance, adding a solemn and respectful tone to the occasion. The presence of the Honor Guard, along with local Boy Scouts, highlighted the community's commitment to remembering the sacrifices made by first responders and victims. Larry Shapiro, a local photographer, captured several poignant moments from the event, including the posting of the colors, the flag crossing, and the final salute. These images offer a visual tribute to the unity and resilience of the Buffalo Grove community in honoring the past. A gallery of additional photos is available for viewing [here].
