Lincolnwood has new Pierce tower ladder

The new Pierce tower ladder for Tower 15 at the Lincolnwood Fire Department is currently being prepared for service, with an expected activation date of April 1. As previously noted in several updates, the station is currently experiencing a shortage of apparatus space. The building is overflowing with equipment, and one of the three ambulances has been forced to remain parked outside. Additionally, Engine 15R is temporarily stored at the public works facility, while both the new Tower 15 and the existing Truck 15 are taking up space in the apparatus bays. The future of the 1989 Pierce Arrow 105' rear-mount ladder remains uncertain. Larry Shapiro visited the station on Saturday and captured some photos of the new tower ladder. The unit is a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT 100' tower ladder equipped with a 2,000-GPM pump and a 300-gallon water tank. It also features a foam system, though the exact capacity of the foam tank is unknown. This truck was built under Pierce job number 23700. Truck 15 is believed to have responded to its final fire on February 14th in Lincolnwood. A photo from that day shows the unit at a 2-11 alarm on St. Louis Street. It's clear that the department is in transition, with old equipment being phased out and new units coming online. With the arrival of the new Tower 15, the focus is now shifting toward ensuring smooth operations and proper storage solutions for the remaining apparatus. The community will likely be watching closely as this important piece of equipment becomes fully operational.
