Troy FPD ushers in apparatus change
Karl Klotz recently visited the Troy Fire Protection District in Shorewood, Illinois, and shared some exciting updates about the department's evolving identity. Known for decades for their iconic lime green emergency vehicles, the Troy FPD is now transitioning to a more modern and striking color scheme. New apparatus and units undergoing repainting will feature a black roof paired with a deep maroon (dark red) body, marking a significant shift from their traditional look.
The change is already visible on several units. Engine 2211, a 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 1500/1000 pumper, now sports the new color scheme and looks sharp against the dark red background. The department’s ambulance, 2214, a 2010 Ford/Medtec MICU, also features the updated paint job along with fresh striping, giving it a more professional and cohesive appearance. Additionally, Brush 2228, which uses a 2010 four-door Ford pickup, has also been painted in the new scheme, showing that even support vehicles are getting the same attention to detail.
