On April 30, 2014, a house fire broke out at 1434 Lori-Lyn Lane in Northbrook. Here are some striking images and a video captured by Larry Shapiro, showing the scene as emergency crews worked to contain the blaze.
The first photo shows firefighters from Wheeling stretching a supply line, highlighting the intense effort required to manage the situation. Another image captures fire venting through the roof just after interior companies had withdrawn, emphasizing the danger involved.
A tower ladder was deployed, with firefighters preparing to tackle the flames from above. A handline was actively working in the B Sector, demonstrating the coordinated response of the team. The new Northbrook Ambulance 10, a Freightliner/Horton Type I unit, was also on site, ready to assist if needed.
Northbrook Tower 12 arrived and helped knock down the main fire, while Wheeling Engine 42 provided a large-diameter hose to support the tower ladder's operations. As dusk fell, the scene showed multiple fire trucks with hoses laid out, showcasing the scale of the operation.
