Diesel generator set working principle and terminology

The structure of the single-cylinder diesel engine and the working methods of the diesel generator set were introduced today for everyone to learn more about the diesel generator set diesel engine.

The single-cylinder reciprocating piston diesel engine structure is mainly composed of an exhaust valve 1, an intake valve 2, a cylinder head 3, a cylinder 4, a piston 5, a piston pin 6, a connecting rod 7 and a crankshaft 8.

The cylinder 4 is provided with a piston 5 which is connected to the crankshaft 8 via a piston pin 6 and a connecting rod 7 . The piston reciprocates up and down in the cylinder and pushes the crankshaft through the connecting rod. For intake of fresh air and discharge of exhaust gas, an intake valve 2 and an exhaust valve 1 are provided on the cylinder head.

Basic terminology
1 top dead center: the maximum distance from the piston to the center of the crankshaft
2 Bottom dead center: the position of the piston at the minimum distance from the center of the crankshaft
3 Piston stroke (stroke): The distance between top dead center and bottom dead center, denoted by symbol S, in mm
4 Crank Radius: The distance from the crankshaft center of rotation to the center of the crankpin, indicated by the symbol r, in mm. As can be seen from FIGS. 2-4, the piston stroke S is equal to twice the crank radius r.

5-cylinder work volume: The cylinder volume swept by a piston from top dead center to bottom dead center in a cylinder. Denoted by the symbol Vh, the unit is L.
