Reporter Weng Shuxian reported: The reporter learned from the 2006 China International Mould Technology and Equipment Exhibition held in Guangzhou that there were 5.9 million domestic car sales last year, surpassing Japan and Germany, ranking second only to the United States. Although the functions of a car itself are not bad, the high price does not go up, and obviously it lacks competitiveness.

According to the relevant person in charge of the China Die and Mould Association, at present, the degree of specialization, commercialization and standardization of domestic mould products is not high, and most of them are middle and low grade products with low technical content. The overall technical level of the entire domestic mold industry is about 15 to 20 years behind the developed countries, which is not commensurate with the needs of the domestic manufacturing industry. It also imports more than 2 billion US dollars worth of middle-to-high-grade molds each year. However, in 2005, the export volume of mold products in China reached 740 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 50% over 2004.
