Beijing International Motor Show will formally announce next year
The Beijing International Motor Show is set to make a major announcement next year. On December 24, 2003, Wan Jifei, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, officially confirmed at a press conference that the 2004 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition will take place from June 9 to June 16 at the China International Exhibition Center, with additional space allocated in the Agricultural Exhibition Hall.
Zhang Wei, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized that only one auto show will be held next year, and no second event is planned. This comes after the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition successfully hosted seven editions so far. However, just days before this announcement, some organizers and contractors had already announced plans for another "Beijing International Automobile Exhibition" in May 2004, sparking widespread debate.
At the press conference on the 24th, several individuals who had previously expressed interest in organizing a separate auto show were present on the stage, but they did not address the potential second event. During the session, nearly 100 reporters asked no questions within the first and last 10 minutes of the event, indicating a lack of public engagement or clarity on the matter.
Earlier this month, media outlets reported that the two groups behind the competing Beijing International Auto Shows were in discussions about merging their efforts. Starting from the 21st, continuous news reports have emerged suggesting a possible unification of the events, though none of the organizers have officially confirmed these rumors.
Wan Jifei also highlighted that the 2004 exhibition will cover a total area of 120,000 square meters, showcasing the latest innovations, technologies, and concepts in the automotive industry. The event will reflect global trends and developments in the sector. For the first time, the exhibition will introduce electronic magnetic card tickets, leveraging advanced information technology to enhance the visitor experience.
