Today, iOFFICE + SpaceIQ is excited to announce a major development in the world of building technology. Autodesk has made a strategic investment in the company, recognizing a shared vision to bridge the gap between Building Information Modeling (BIM) and facilities management. This move aims to create more efficient, flexible, and responsive operations for buildings and infrastructure.

This investment marks another key step in Autodesk’s broader strategy to bring BIM and digital twin technologies—like Autodesk Tandem—into the full lifecycle of a project, from design all the way through to operations and maintenance.

Here’s the official news from iOFFICE + SpaceIQ:

iOFFICE + SpaceIQ Announces Strategic Investment by Autodesk

HOUSTON, TX and ATLANTA, GA – September 21, 2021 – iOFFICE + SpaceIQ, a leader in workplace and asset management digital transformation, today announced a strategic investment by Autodesk, a global technology leader spanning architecture, engineering, construction, product design, manufacturing, and media and entertainment. This investment comes following the recent integration of iOFFICE and SpaceIQ, and will enable the delivery of integrated solutions that empower businesses to analyze and optimize every aspect of their real estate and critical assets. The financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

The pandemic has significantly increased the focus on maximizing the value and efficiency of facilities. According to a recent survey by Verdantix, cost reduction has become the top real estate priority for executives. However, many organizations still struggle with fragmented occupancy and operations workflows, making it hard to leverage data from siloed systems. With its deep expertise in BIM, Autodesk is helping address these challenges by providing the visibility needed to strategically plan and manage physical resources during operations.

See how Autodesk integrates with iOFFICE + SpaceIQ products – Archibus and SiQ – to easily flow critical asset and space data from design through operations to increase performance, extend asset life, improve employee experience.

“Combining design, operational, and performance data in one platform is more important than ever,” said Nick Stefanidakis, General Manager of Archibus, an iOFFICE + SpaceIQ product. “Autodesk’s investment allows us to deliver the solutions organizations need to meet this growing demand.”

iOFFICE + SpaceIQ offers the most comprehensive portfolio of integrated workplace and enterprise asset management platforms. Over 10,000 customers worldwide use these tools to manage more than 2 billion square feet of real estate valued at over $64 billion. Their platforms, including the widely used IWMS Archibus, help 170,000-plus maintenance technicians handle 1.3 million work orders each month. Archibus was one of Autodesk’s first developer partners, and this investment expands their combined capabilities to drive greater collaboration and scalability.

“Users of both Archibus and Autodesk products will benefit from a tighter integration of BIM-based design and construction data with operations insights and workflows,” Stefanidakis added. “This helps optimize facility performance, comfort, and sustainability, allowing owners and occupiers to make better-informed decisions throughout the building lifecycle.”

For nearly three decades, Autodesk has been a global leader in BIM design, engineering, and construction solutions. Recently, the company expanded into the world of digital twins with the launch of Autodesk Tandem and the acquisition of Innovyze. This investment represents another step forward in Autodesk’s mission to bring BIM and digital twin technologies to the entire project lifecycle—from design to operations and maintenance.

“BIM is at the core of Autodesk’s AEC business and serves as the foundation for the ongoing digital transformation in the building industry,” said Nicolas Mangon, Vice President of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry Strategy at Autodesk. “Owners and operators are playing a crucial role in combating climate change through improved building efficiency and creating flexible, resilient workplaces. Our investment in iOFFICE + SpaceIQ reflects our commitment to giving them the tools they need to succeed.”

Software used to manage facility operations

Leverage the power of your Digital Twins to improve operational effectiveness.

Autodesk and iOFFICE + SpaceIQ currently offer integrations between Autodesk Revit® and AutoCAD® and Archibus, with plans for future integrations with the Autodesk Construction Cloud® and Autodesk’s Forge® platform. Customers like Daiwa House have already benefited from these integrations, using them to streamline their building data management and decision-making processes.

“Daiwa House has developed a strategy to create and manage building data so that owners can make more informed decisions while reducing the guesswork in operations and maintenance,” said Takaaki Miyauchi, Senior Manager at Daiwa House. “Archibus and Autodesk’s BIM-related products are central to our strategy of bringing the project model and asset operations together. This investment from Autodesk will fully integrate BIM into building operations, which is essential for the digital transformation of the built environment.”
