Pacific Offshore Receives Order for Wärtsilä LNG Fuel Tank

On October 24th, Pacific Offshore (SOE) and Wärtsilä Group signed a contract with SOE for the dual fuel propulsion system undertaken by Wärtsilä to provide a matching LNG fuel tank project with a total of 2 tanks and 2 tanks. The tank has a capacity of 1100 M3 and is used to convert a conventionally equipped ro-ro ship into a dual-fuel propulsion. The tank is semi-cooled and semi-pressed, C-type tank, X7Ni9 material, and entered the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
According to the contract, SOE provides a full range of services from basic design, detailed design, production design, material procurement, production to complete tank delivery.
It is understood that the use of dual fuel power saves fuel costs by 25% compared to diesel power, equipment maintenance costs are about 50% lower than diesel gas turbines, and economics is also good. Secondly, the leakage of LNG in the ultra-low temperature state will quickly vaporize naturally, and the density is lower than that of air, so it will not pollute the water body. Moreover, its ignition point is higher than that of steam and diesel. The instantaneous ignition is slower than oil, and it is not easy to reach the explosion limit when the airflow is unblocked. And after adding a special odorant, the leak can be discovered in time. This power boat is also extremely clean. In addition, the LNG fuel main engine does not need to install lubricating oil cleaning equipment, and the internal environment is better. The power system body radiation and structural noise are also about 50% smaller than diesel engines. As a kind of clean energy, LNG not only produces less carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and other greenhouse gases than diesel, but the price is generally about 75% of diesel, which has two characteristics of environmental protection and energy conservation.
Some experts predict that by 2015, the global LNG-fueled ships will increase from about 100 to 800-1000. In addition, according to the regulations of the International Maritime Organization, from January 2015, the sulfur oxide emission limits of ships in some regions (ECA, some emission control waters in Europe) will drop from the current 1% to 0.1%; from 2020 As a result, the global sulphur oxide emission limits for ships will fall from the current 4.5% to 0.5%. The use of LNG in ships does not substantially produce pollutants and can also reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The field of clean energy gas transportation equipment is one of the markets that SOE has been focusing on. In just a few years, SOE has become an important force in the world's small and medium-sized clean energy chemical gas transportation equipment market. The signing of this contract marks the company's past brand supplier of liquid tanks as a carrier of gas energy transportation, and has entered a new attempt as a carrier of clean energy for ships.
