Petrochemical Association Creates "Hands" for Emission Reduction

The China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association will focus on developing and promoting a number of new energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies and processes that will create effective and effective "hands" for enterprises.

During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, 16 key mature energy-saving and emission-reduction practical technologies and processes, including the zero-emission technology of nitrogen fertilizer industry and the synthetic energy-saving comprehensive technology of synthetic ammonia, should be promoted.
Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, stressed at the meeting that it is not possible to accomplish the arduous task of saving energy and reducing emissions in the industry, and that it must do its utmost to shout slogans. The key is to vigorously carry out technological innovation and create effective and effective grips for promoting energy conservation and emission reduction. At the meeting, officials from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission revealed that in order to promote energy-saving and emission reduction, the central government is brewing new policy measures, including raising resource taxes, launching domestic and international energy efficiency benchmarking campaigns for thousands of companies, and publicizing the energy efficiency of local and thousands of companies. Indicators, energy-saving behavior and effect evaluations are included in the assessment of business performance, evaluation of the effectiveness of 1,000 energy-saving actions, and establishment of new energy-saving emission reduction incentives.
In recent years, the average annual growth rate of China's oil and chemical industry is above 20%, equivalent to a petrochemical industry of the same scale that was rebuilt for several years. Against such a backdrop, the goal of achieving a 20% reduction in energy consumption and a 10% reduction in emissions is an arduous task for the entire industry.
Representatives attending the conference said that accelerating the comprehensive utilization of energy and resources and reducing the generation and emission of pollutants has become the most important and urgent task in the industry, and it is also our social responsibility. This arduous task we must complete.
The conference was co-sponsored by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and the Economic Commission of Gansu Province, and was organized by the China Chemical News and Gansu Provincial Petrochemical Industry Association.
