The Optical Weather Phenomenon Developed by Anko Observed the Blizzard Process

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] From January 3rd to January 5th and January 24th, Anhui has witnessed continuous rain and snow, which has a wide range, long duration, and severe impact since the beginning of the winter. The optical weather phenomenometer independently researched and developed by the Institute of Environmental Optics at the Anhui Institute of Optics and Optics Co., Ltd. recorded the complete blizzard process in real time. The monitoring data included the onset time of the snowfall phenomenon, the instantaneous snowfall intensity, the particle size distribution of snowfall particles, and the visibility during snowfall. The weather phenomenometer located in the northwestern suburb of Science and Technology in Hefei City monitored that there was a continuous 35-hour continuous snowfall process from 9:00 am on January 3 to 8:00 pm on January 4, during which the snowfall intensity continued. Stronger, the maximum snowfall intensity occurred at about 7:00 pm in the month of January, when the instantaneous snowfall intensity reached 10 mm/hour, and the particle size of the snowfall particles reached 6-7 mm, and the corresponding visibility was reduced to below 400 meters. The duration of the snowfall process from January 24th to the present has also reached more than 30 hours. During this period, the snowfall intensity is also strong. The maximum snowfall intensity reaches 7mm/h at 11:29am on the 25th, and the average snowfall particle size distribution is 4mm. Within this time, the visibility was reduced to about 500 meters.
Optical weather phenomena instrument is mainly used for on-line monitoring of precipitation, sight and other weather phenomena, using particle extinction signal to detect droplet size information such as particle size and velocity, and inversion of parameters such as weather phenomena and precipitation information. The technical indicators of this instrument have reached the advanced level of similar products of the world, and have obtained a number of authorized invention patents and software copyrights; it has obtained the "Utilization Permit for Meteorological Special Technical Equipment" issued by the China Meteorological Administration, and has been used in many places across the country for demonstration applications. The enterprises have cooperated to carry out equipment industrialization and engineering research and development; formed product sales in areas such as meteorology and traffic safety, which changed the situation in which relevant commercial meteorological monitoring equipment in China depends on imports. The R&D of this instrument was supported by the STS regional key project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the enterprise cooperation project of the Hanjiang Emerging Industry Technology Development Center.

From the side of the ship one or two suction pipes descend to the bottom of the seabed. On the end of the pipe a so-called trailing Drag Head is connected. This head is comparable to a large vacuum cleaner and is trailed along the seabed. In the head there are nozzles connected to a high pressure water installation that are capable of loosening the material on the seabed. Due to lower pressure in the pipe, the material will be sucked inward and discharged in the hopper.

The vessel should always have a positive speed over the ground. It is possible to regulate the density of the sucked substance. If the head is lowered, more material will be sucked but there is a greater possibility of damaging the installation because the material can get stuck inside the pipes. Once the mixture is loaded inside the hopper, the substance will sink and the water is discharged overboard, creating more room for extra substance. A trailing Suction Hopper Dredger is only capable to suck relatively loose substance because the steel teeth are not so big. Harder substances such as rock, or ironbased rock must be destroyed by a cutter.

A. General

Suction pipe system ensure full control of the drag head on the bottom, transport the dredge mixture to the hopper, then transmit the trailing force from the drag head to the ship and support pipes and cabling.

B. Construction and procedure

The construction is to be built according to the drawing with rules of good workmanship and to be built the longitudinal frame system.

The construction consist big suction pipes, Turning Gland, joint, jet line, Seamless Pipes, supports for cable and hoses, which are carefully manufactured and checked to ensure total length, straightness, symmetry within the specific tolerances.

C. Procedure

Welding seam preparation-Pre roll bending of plate tip-Rolling-Longitudinal welding (SAW),inside then outside-Crossing welding (SAW) between part tubes to form the whole pipe-US testing and repairing-Adjusting-Assemble other part

D. Materials

All fabricated steelwork used in the construction of the suction pipe will be to manufacturing standard of classification society BV, GL, LR, DNV, especially for neck flange.

All steel used to be blasted and shop primed both sides. Using DH36

All materials proposed will be selected to comply with the latest Health and Safety Rules.

Paint systems for hull protection will be of the highest quality (Hempel, Inter, Sigma, Jotun)

E. Welding

All welding will be performed in accordance with drawing and order and UniSite experience and all welding will be continuous and full penetration.

Welding seam preparation, welding method, welding material and consequent preheating temperature acc. to UniSite standards and approved by clients.

F. Workmanship

The workmanship have good marine practice. Care are taken to ensure fair lines, smooth surfaces and neat welding.
