Giti Tire Group announced that it will spend 560 million U.S. dollars to build its first factory in the United States. The initial tire production capacity is expected to reach 5 million bar/year.

The new site will be located in Chester County, South Carolina. Upon completion, it will include a distribution center covering a total area of ​​1.8 million square feet. The new plant is expected to create 1,700 jobs in the next 10 years.

Enki Tan, chairman of Giti Tire, said that during the initial operations of the plant, it will produce 5 million tires each year, and at the same time supply the replacement tire market and the original supporting market.

Tom McNamara, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Giti Tire USA, said that the first factory in the United States was built to meet future changes in market conditions and growth in demand.

In fiscal year 2012, Giti Tire’s operating revenue totaled US$2.7 billion, up 16% year-on-year, with the North American market contributing US$430 million in revenue to the company. In fiscal 2013, the revenue of Giti tires is expected to reach 2.8 billion to 3 billion U.S. dollars.
