Industrial Dry Tantalum Ore Electrostatic Separator

High tension electrostatic separators are specifically designed for the separation of titaniferous mineral sands, hard rock ilmenite and rutile, cassiterite, tantalite, wolframite, iron ore, and plastics from metals in waste recycling systems. These machines utilize the difference in electrical conductivity between various minerals in an ore feed. The high-tension roll electrostatic separator (HTR) employs a grounded roll to transport the material through a high-voltage ionizing field (corona), where particles become charged through ion bombardment. Conducting particles transfer their charge to the grounded carrier electrode (roll) and are then thrown off by centrifugal and gravitational forces. Non-conducting particles remain pinned to the electrode and are transported around the roll's periphery, where they drop either due to charge dissipation or mechanical means such as brushes and high-voltage AC wipers. The throughput capacity of a high-tension electrostatic separator is closely related to the roll speed, roll width, and the characteristics of the feed material. For smaller diameter rolls, a higher rotation speed is necessary to maintain a good feed rate. However, at higher RPMs, coarse non-conductive particles may leave the roll surface too early due to increased centrifugal force, leading to misplacement in the conductor stream. Conversely, at lower RPMs, fine conductive particles may not gain enough inertia to be thrown off, causing misplacement in the non-conductor stream. Therefore, adjusting the roll speed and electrode positions is essential to optimize the process when dealing with mixtures that have varying physical properties such as conductivity, particle size, and density.
